Therapy
Date Made: Late 2010
Context: Undergraduate Project
Time Frame: 6 weeks
The prompt:
Using 16mm film, create and edit a video that is synced with music or some other sound. The film may be scratched, burned, tinted, cut, and so on; those maniuplations must add to the narrative of the video.
Using “Frontier Psychiatrist” by The Avalanches, I found two different reels of film to bring together. One reel was about sex education from the 1970’s and the other was entitled “Life in the Midwest in 1910”. A big part of the project involved timing out the 24 frames per second and understand when the music would be hitting key moments.
