PROJECT TRAINSTATION
translation project is still a WIP school project that i am currently working on with my two french class mates ariane gaubert and imène lafendi.
it is about bringing the identity of orléans to the local train station, which is connected directly to the supermall. and since it is the first thing you see when you arrive to orléans, we wanted to bring some cultutal elements of this beautiful city directly to the train station.
the hall is huge and bright with a very high ceiling, which reminded us a little of cathedral sainte-croix, which is one the most know "symbols" of orléans ( "aussi un grand espace clair et illuminé" ) and the technique of stained glass.
basically we chose several interesting (sight-seeing) and cultural spots in orléans and represented them graphically. these chosen elements are

4 théâtre d'orléans
5 médiathèque
6 bridge georges V
7 hotel grosslot
the technique we chose for this installation is plexiglass which would be hanged from the ceiling.
for not being so evident, we decided that symbols would be deconstructed, cut into several pieces and would only "make sense" when seen from a certain point of view. this was one of the ideas we had from the very beginning of the project, since it is very hard to come up with some installation that would fit in such space without blocking people's way (the installation was also supposed to work with "streams of people" travelling in and out of the train station, leaving and arriving to the city)
