The Allure of Waterford Lismore

This past winter Waterford asked me to redesign the Lismore cut. They wanted to transition Lismore  to better fit  the new entertaining culture.  After research about the younger consumer and how they choose to entertain I realized that the idea of designing is transitioning. It is not as formal as it used to be and that dining sets have become archaic. The younger generation has become more active and mobile,  as a result dining space and living space have merged into a single multipurpose space. Because of that I chose to to do a modern home bar to bring Waterford's traditional elegance and luxury into everyday life.
The collection incorporated recent and popular  homeware trends into the design. The first trend is "found". Found is the idea of multiple different pieces that come together to make a cohesive and well curated collection. I took the idea of found to make the pieces work well as a collection but just as well individually. The idea of Lismore being able to play with other pieces lead me to make the collection more subtle to play well with whatever the buyer pairs with it. As a result I decided to make the collection open stock. The second is wire furniture which lent itself to the thin upward cuts and delicate nature to the stemware. The third is Geometry; I interpreted that in the cuts and facets. I took inspiration and satisfaction that is achieved from clean folds on paper.
