Fake and Honest Pieces

Fake and Honest Pieces was created at HDK in Gothenburg, Sweden. Combine my longstanding interest in leather with my jewelry background, the project resulted from a series of experimentations in recreating leather with metal. The experiments include various methods of transferring the texture of leather onto metal, attempts in capturing the fluidity of leather forms, and the coloring of the metal pieces.

The resulting pieces are two metal draped "leather" bracelets and two “leather” squares made in brass. The two brass "leather" squares are displayed amongst eight genuine leather squares, and the viewer is encouraged to touch and inspect the pieces closely to spot the difference between the real and fake leather pieces.
