This scarf is composed of colors found in photos taken of my parents as they were growing up. Initially inspired by multitude of vibrant patterns found in Matisse still lifes, these photographs were collaged to create a more personal visual language.

This shawl juxtaposes the barren, concrete architecture that is found in rural China, and the gaudy decorations which are favored in celebrations such as birthdays and weddings.
