INTERACTION DESIGN FOR VIBRAM

Brief
With its forward-looking approach to market and consumerism, historic sole-maker company Vibram has been venturing in the realm of big data to pursue innovative ways to address its marketing propositions. Vibram is a leading global company in the sole sector and during the last decade it has been successfully experimenting with sophisticated solutions, by integrating sensorial microtechnology in their core products. These devices allow the sole to collect huge amounts of data. Our class has been collaborating with design consultancy company DotDotDot to help Vibram leveraging the potential of Big Data by delivering pioneering PPSs.
Internet of Things get social
OnyourFeet is a digital health platform, connected to an interactive game. The application allows the user to become aware of the issues deriving from bad daily habit, such as inactivity, bad posture and poor gait. Here the soles plays the role of a technological hub, able to collect data and translate them in a social game application, where the players are the shoes themselves.
The measurement system, developed with Arduino and VVV, is embedded in the sole thanks to miniaturized sensors. These are placed in strategic positions along the foot plant.
The game
Gamification is one of the most interesting frontiers in marketing nowadays and it's a powerful tool to get messages be easily understood and assimilated. Here the game is demanded to the very shoes: through an app, users can register their special pair. The shoes are playing on users' behalf, challenging other users' shoes. they will have their own network, post messages and share opinions.
At the end of teh day, what is simpy required to users will be check the score of their shoes and identify their flaws and best practices.
