Evolution of a Hypothetical Built Environment

Evolution of the Built Environment
Creation of a hypothetical civilization while reflecting on the historical evolution of a human settlement.
“Architecture has recorded the great ideas of the human race.” Victor Hugo.

A student group project outlining the creation of a hypothetical civilization in a humid rainforest region, focussing on the evolution of the human settlement from nomadic tribe to advanced futuristic city.

All changes within the hypothetical settlement as it evolves have been based upon historic evidence of human settlements within similar geographical areas. Details specific to the hypothetical civilization of the "Imix", including the location (Laputa Rainforest), settlement and cities, religion, social structure and oral traditions have been imagined, created, planned and designed by the two group members.

The aim of this assignment was to gain a greater understanding of the historical evolution of cities and societies, as well as the important events in history that have activated great change in the composition of human settlements.
