In Providence, the new and the old are layered throughout the city. In this project I found just as many locations where the historical has been preserved as abandoned buildings that had been left to decay. I found new development and landscapes of modern conveniences standing side by side with trash and pollution. These juxtapositions physically show how the landscape has aged and been altered, producing the Providence we find today. 

          In the second phase of the project ,I focused on the river as the main vein of the city. Throughout the city's history the river has been a catalyst for both the city's growth and decay.
