Amongst the locals and the Rabari shepherds, the elusive leopards of the Jawai hills in Rajastan are revered and honoured. Here they roam wild and free as they have for decades. A luxurious tented camp called Jawai has recently established a base within these rolling hills and has discovered a wellspring of nature and culture in rural india.

The vibrant Rabari herdsmen who have shared this landscape with wildlife for centuries signify the organic and continuing link between local culture and wildlife, a relationship SUJÁN is deeply committed to nurturing, in the face of rapid change as a means of fulfilling our commitment to conservation; of cultures and wildlife.
Entitled Aardha-rathri, meaning Midnight in Sanscrit, this sculpture embodies the iconic allure of the leopard. As a centrepiece of the camp's lounge and dining area, it holds a space of power and connection to the landscapes most elusive prize, a sighting of the beautiful cat. Made onsite over 2 weeks, this sculpture is constructed of mild steel and has a height of 3m, a length of 5m and a width of 1,5m.
