My final project is based around the idea of ‘desire’. It has been developed attentively into desire of the fabric ‘Organza’ which is a very lightweight material, especially when placed underwater. I once had a dream of an underwater fashion shoot and ever since have been itching to create this in some way. When I started looking at nineteen-fifties photography, the term ‘desire’ was used throughout all these early photographs. Desire is a term, which can be portrayed through specific sequencing and movement. With my love of portraiture and colour, I decided to take the plunge and go with this obscure and ambitious idea.

To research specifically into this area I was looking into, I looked at theorists, such as Baudrillard, Roland Barthes and Freud. This was as they at look closely at the semiotics and reasoning behind advertising. Though my piece is an artistic piece, there are still a lot of ideas behind it that can be related to fashion films. These include: Dahse magazine, Richard Avedon’s photography and Tim Walker’s photography, which all contributed to my final outcome. Calvin Klein’s advert for Euphoria is similar to what I wanted to achieve, yet without the advertising quality. The Euphoria piece features bright pieces of material floating in the wind, flowing naturally. Surrounded by bright flowers, keeping the contrast high at all times with the dull background. This in particular was an aesthetic I wanted to use for my piece.
