Project Type: Heuristic Evaluation on UI for Internal Recruiting Database
Project Team: Justin Watts, Nicholas Michel & Bryan Lee
My Role: Research, Conduct Expert Evaluation, Analysis, Mockups and Reporting
Outcome: As a result of research, tight execution, collaboration and articulate reporting - the UX and UI teams' visions for the interface aligned and the client was able to get the blessing to further development and implement the UX changes proposed which will result in a more intuitive and efficient recruiting application.
Client & Context: Large Scale fortune 500 recruiter with 4 types of users - associates, executive assistants, consultants and accountants use an internal web application for ALL aspects of their recruiting business. They wanted an expert usability review and a report of the changes we proposed.
The Issue: Users of the application want speed and efficiency, and also think the learning curve is long for the application and some functions are hidden and they cannot accomplish their work fast enough.
What I Did: Adhering to best usability practices, the application was evaluated with the mindset of the user (based off personas) to determine the causes of their issues. The goal is to use the personas to understand their goals and needs with the interface redesign by seeing what they see and doing what they do.
The Outcome: In all, there were 35 findings ranging from positive to critical which were addressed in the report. The report also contained recommendations of how to fix usability issues on the application. The client had great feedback in terms of findings and which changes were recommended.
