The Golden Hour is a series of six small oil paintings (6"x6") on composite metal leaf on panel board. The series gets its name from the golden hour, the first hour of light after sunrise, and the last hour of light before sunset. In trying to capture this fleeting light, the artist has created tranquil landscapes using an economy of energetic brush strokes. The bare metal leaf, juxtaposed with the transparent and opaque oil paint, generates a hazy golden glow which seems to illuminate each landscape from within. Each piece is hand painted and floats in a custom black wooden frame.
