this fall, i recieved two grants from the university of texas for my honors thesis project, "the pisa baptistery: faith, community, and cross cultural connections in late medieval italy". i used them to visit pisa, italy for ten days at the end of december into early january, and it was probably one of the most special, overwhelming experiences of my life. there was so much to look at, and when the eye can't focus, the best thing you can do is sit down and draw things. the following are a selection of observational drawings i did while roaming around the piazza del duomo in pisa.
