Understanding Photography

The following photographs are a mix of film and digital black and white photography, taken in order to study B/W photography in particular.
The following two photographs is where I encountered my first issues.
I had a hard time using a light meter properly and understanding what my settings needed to actually be. Since the photographs were on film and there was no option to review, I used a dslr side by side to capture a similar shot and understand if the photographs I had previously taken were within the proper exposure.
It was after I processed the film that I noticed these odd white lines. It is possible that my camera has light leaks which need to be fixed.
When I noticed the performing animals on the street two things became evident.
1. The animals werent very happy to be there.
2. If I had to capture these Id have to shoot fast and steady, this was rather tricky but the results were decent enough.
The photographs above and below me were really difficult to set. Since the subjects were somewhat blended into the background I needed to really use my lightmeter and nail it.
The subjects were farmers living on the mountain and wore nearly the same colors as the shrubs and trees surrounding them.
This particular piece above has become somewhat of a personal favourite of mine.
It took all the knowledge I had gained through out the set of photographs to frame and capture.
The bright light of the sun made me wonder if I had over exposed this shot but it turned out rather decent.
The following photographs are all digital and were taken after understanding and using a manual slr.
