A small bench which was designed and built in April 2014 as part of the sophomore Furniture curriculum.
I approached this assignment with a mindset of exploring and manipulating ways people could engage with an object as common as a bench. I wanted to create an object which implied a way in which another person could interact with the bench - in this case, instead of making one continuous backrest, I made two opposing backrests which faced each other, suggesting the idea that two people could be facing one another while sitting.
