Assignment: Create a photographic documentary of the historic Slater Mill Museum in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Slater Mill was the first successful cotton-spinning factory in the United States, and while as it is not in use today, its many machines and buildings are preserved as part of this historic site in Pawtucket. All photographs were taken during a one-day trip to the museum. As part of my personal documentary of this space, I especially wanted to capture the afternoon light that brought to life some of the rustic yet charming features of the old mill. Everything was rather still and quiet, despite the chaotic placement of machinery and cotton, as they are only remnants of the busy workings of the mill from two hundred years ago.
