Consummate artist, Chris Schlarb, released his newest album, Psychic Temple, on Asthmatic Kitty Records last year. As is the case with all of his projects, Chris was intimately involved in all steps of the process, from recording to art direction. He contacted me months before the release and asked if I would take the photos for his album cover. After a failed attempt at using a location that is actually called "Psychic Temple" (the "psychic" lady was nay too accommodating) we tried a couple more locations, and ended up with some of the musicians in his dining room. Shot on a Canon F-1, on the super-grainy T-Max 3200, we were all happy with the results - especially after the graphic designer got hold of the shots. I'm proud of the cover, and prouder still that I got to play several live performances of the album on trumpet. Congrats on all of the great reviews, Chris. It really is a great album, and I'd advise everyone who reads this to give it a listen!
