Without a context to criticize, the table is not able to come to life. It serves a purpose and that purpose was told through a narrative. I began to discover associations or understandings of this narrative through a series of drawings, using language as a key driving force. The table takes on different amounts of weight, metaphorically and physically, from carrying light to carrying a cup of tea.

The ground is being uplifted from the earth, becoming the table surface. The table bounds a void to express the airy surface and the dense grounding of the below. The void is a moment of silence. The roots of the table emerge from the earth uplifting the surface, contextualizing what is above and below and what it means as a user to be within and without.
