MUSIC OF THE RENAISSANCE
by Melissa Haavisto

Designed for a third year Information Design class, the following Infographic provides a quick snapshot of Renaissance music. This project particularly targets students of the Conservatory Canada History 5 Syllabus, the Royal Conservatory of Music's History 4 Syllabus, and introductory music history courses. It is intended to be used as a study aid for an audience already familiar with the concepts.

All illustrations, including the title-painting (based on Dutch Golden Age artist Gerard van Honthorst's painting "The Concert", reimagined to depict two influential musicians: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Josquin Desprez) and the map of Renaissance Italy are original works. The pieces began as sketches and were digitally painted with Photoshop brushes from scratch in over 100 layers.
