NIGHTTALK with Jameson Irish Whiskey (ADvertorials)

NIGHTTALK with John Jameson
3 years of Shanghai TALK Magazine ADvertorials
From 2008 - 2010 I was creative copywriter for BTL agency WTM, among other things I wrote Advertorials for Jameson Irish Whiskey and worldsbestbars.com which was both highly enjoyable and successful for brand presence here in Shanghai.
The premise was that they were written by (or, where stated otherwise) the great John Jameson himself.
John is, of course, an extremely likable person, a bit of a cad, groin achingly suave and debonaire as well as a hard nosed business mogul. To re-use a cliche he's a "work hard play hard" kinda guy.
Every month John waxed about one of his double '0' life experiences- the 5 star hotel, the Jessica Rabbit fling, the neat Jameson's Irish night cap. Occasionally there was an event to plug so John was on hand to push it & review it with his usual style and charisma.
Unfortunately I don't have the ai. files of the 2010 issues, and it doesn't look so nice to post word doc's, so please imagine if you will - they get better and better!
This is the very first - August 2008
Both the writing style and layout were not established and I think this is noticeable but the brands (Jameson & worldsbestbars.com) are well represented.
February 2010 and St. Patrick's day. John being Irish couldn't really pass this one up, so of course he went green. At the same time Jameson were trying to push their "360" promotional idea so this became a little formulaic and brand heavy.
An after summer review from John for September 2009. I remember really enjoying writing this, spending time with maps of the spanish coast, emailing restaurants for their menus and seeing if I could catch a sniff of Madeira Sherry in the Huang Pu air - alas all I could smell were Sichuan farts and Baijiu.
