Three sets of rings from fall semester, using one-part silicon molds and vulcanized rubber molds. The three iterations build off of hardware prototyping components.

Often in component configurations, functionality comes first and composition is an ensuing compromise. Playing with the visuals and textures of arrangements of molded shapes first, further explored through different metals and patinas, the rings assume purely fictitious potential functionalities despite their obstinate solidity as solid metal objects.

The first set was made in five hours, the time including making the molds of elements to work with. Molds used include small objects I keep in my desk, including sport earbuds, stones, coral, a hard drive, and an Arduino Uno. Cast in bronze, the rings were treated with black patina.
The second set plays off of components of the first, incorporating more molds (such as breadboards, pliers, and braided nuts) and more finesse in crafstmanship. Also cast in bronze, they have been treated with a "Statue of Liberty" mint green patina.
The final set uses a vulcanized rubber mold of one of the rings from the second set to create six new rings. The incorporation of an organic bubble texture contrasts with and confuses the original aesthetic of the components. The rings are cast in sterling silver.
