Voyage of a new display
New display modules for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) exhibition
studioButcher and Black Panda Design have recently completed a design/build commission in collaboration with Minnifie von Schaik Architects for Melbourne’s acclaimed ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) exhibition programme at Federation Square, Melbourne, Victoria. The show runs from Thursday 22 September 2011 - Sunday 29 January 2012 and is a must see for all space travel movie, sci-fi and futurist buffs.

Twenty seven modules consisting of three different design styles were built entirely within the Ovens Street, Brunswick collaborative design precinct - home to the studioButcher workshop. The major structure is of a vacuum formed shell from components of ABS and PETG. The project was delivered on time and on budget within an extremely tight parameters thanks to the successful dialogue and prototyping methodology.
