FABRIC CONSTRUCTION
The objective of the project is to help develop a sensitivity to fabric design as an interplay between construction, material, structure, form, function and meaning.

Brief of the project is to study and understand different aspects of Ahmedabad food culture. To develop a visual narrative and understand the vocabulary of fabric design through rhythm, color ways and coordination of fabrics.
Puri is an unleavened Indian bread. The name puri derives from the Sanskrit word (pūrikā), from (pura) “filled”. Puri has a many visual, tactile and edible qualities which give ideas for developing fabrics. It is a puffed whole wheat bread that can be eaten with a variety of dry or curried vegetable preparations but the Gujarati favorite is when it is eaten with aamras or mango fool.
Exploring the puffed and air filled quality of puri. The plastic sheets varying thickness and heat sealing machine is used for explorations. Two layers of plastic sheet are heat set by filling air in between. This is an abstract form of puri having two layers consisting air.
Double layered quality of puri having upper layer thinner than the lower layer. Its is a physical attribute of puri. Explorations are done using different fabrics i.e, thick as well as thin as puri have two different layers and the layer consist air in between.
Exploring textures on fabric using wheat grains forms and shapes.
