When one thinks of their bed, immediately one thinks of comfort, softness, and coziness. Bed comforters also provide color and added design elements to the rooms that they occupy. With my bed comforter and pillow set, I wanted to express a feel of the rustic, home-felt woods that I grew up in; while also employing it as a practical everyday item. The colors were inspired by the nature and the gold weavings of Olga de Amaral. I choose the Huck structure due to its simplistic, yet alluring geometrical design. With the Huck structure, the bed comforter and pillows are able to translate elegance without being too overpowering to the design itself. The structure is sturdy mixed with delicate floats to give it a sense of security, but with style. The front and backside of the woven structure are alternated (back-front-back) on the comforter to create more of a contrast in the comforter itself; and to avoid blocks of colored stripes. Using bamboo and cotton, this comforter is the perfect summertime comforter; while still appearing soft and comfortable thanks to the loftiness of the polyester batting. This bed set would be marketed towards couples of all ages that do not have small children (due the somewhat delicate nature of parts of the woven structure that I used). Although this comforter could be ideally used all-year long, it would mainly be marketed to be sold in the summer since it is made of breathable and light materials.
