ARCH. TECH: SketchUp & Revit - Aircraft Hanger

BACKGROUND:

This was an introduction to BIM, using Autodesk Revit, in 3rd YR of Architectural Technology; it served as a both an introduction to Revit as a modelling tool and as a introduction project to 3rd year (back in 2011 I believe), it was to prepare us for the fact that we were going to be required of us to complete our end of the year thesis in Revit.

Some challenges faced were; the ‘plane-wing’ shape of the roof, the openings in the roof and the sloping front wall (south elevation).

I also recall the topography causing quite a headache; we created an uneven site on purpose; as there would rarely a site in a real life situation that would be a cleanly even site. So we had it flat at the front (landing strip) and rise steeply at the rear.
