Dropbeat is a new concept for a music app that focuses on real-time playlist creation.
User's first select the Artist/Musician in the upper left corner or search for what they would like in the universal search bar. This selection populates the center column with Songs, Albums, and an About page. From here, one can swipe individual songs or even full albums over to the Queue and manage their live playlist.
What makes this unique is that the current song is not shown at the top or bottom, but rather, the middle of the page, where it becomes a focal point. This music meridian displays the album cover, a soundwave for quick song navigation, and current track information making it easy to read what was on, what is on, and what is next.
This demonstrates the action of swiping and dropping a selected track. If the user pulls the song box to the right, it gets loaded to the top of the Queue. If they decide to drop the beat, the track skips to the front of the line and gets played right from the music meridian.
This shows the user switching to the miniplayer. Before, it was frustrating to have a feature that struggles to work in conjunction with other running apps. Now, Dropbeat works just like the Apple dock, conveniently hiding itself in a familiar location when it is not in use.
