This was an instruction packet to introduce people with diabetes to the idea of an insulin pump. The USP was the bluetooth technology. The pump could stay hidden under a person's clothes, and they could control it remotely with their meter, allowing them to live wirelessly.
A unique feature of this brochure was the die-cut and fold-out on the front cover, which I designed to solve a dilemma. I had to appease the global brand committee who had originally come up with the Newton's cradle as the cover concept for the piece, and the U.S. product managers, who didn't care for it. (The U.S. group really wanted to feature people on the cover.) The client also wanted to incorporate something unusual in the brochure to stand out from the competition.
The solution I came up with was to create a cover flap which played up the Newton's cradle idea and also related bluetooth technology to real-world situations which improve the quality of life for people with diabetes.
