Intu is a reimagined identity for the Intuit: Center for Outsider Art, located in Chicago IL. The Intuit features an exclusive look into the life and work of Henry Darger, a reclusive self-taught artist who worked as a janitor in Chicago for most of his life. Darger’s 15,000 page novel, “The realms of the Unreal” was only discovered in his one-bedroom apartment just after his death. Within it are hundreds of elaborate collaged illustrations, crafted from remains of disposed watercolor paint, pens, and newspaper clippings
The Intuit is distinguished from other folk art museums because it holds intuitive art that is soley created in an urban space. Upon entering the museum, the visitor is greeted by repurposed materials, ephemerality, and vibrant color.
