Birds in Southern Africa

October 2007. The south of the Kruger National Park. After a few rainy days a blacksmith lapwing is wading in a rainpool next to the Sabie River.

Laughing dove. The Laughing dove is a rather small pigeon. It is a ground feeder, preferring seeds and small insects. Its call gave him its name. It sounds like a person laughing. Location: Afsaal picnic spot, south of Skukuza in the Kruger National Park.
