Marquette University High School
Mural Design
____

LP/w recently installed a 90ft x 9ft mural at Marquette University High School, an all boys Catholic school. When presented the project,we knew what we were in for. On the one hand, the faculty. One the other hand, the students. Each with their own set of requests.

All points were valid and all points had to betaken into account. As a result, the mural represents the multi-layered education one receives at the school with religion as the "base" . This is represented by the large "AMDG, the latin phrase Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam meaning "For the Greater Glory of God" . The letterforms are so large that they are there but not - a bonus since it is heavily employed throughout the school. The next layer is represented by the photos of students. Young. Active. Timeless. The layer in the "front" is their knowledge. This is represented by the technical line drawings that intentional interact and make references to adjacent photos.
