Every year at the Annual Portfolio Tasting, we feature the majority of our wine offering all under one roof. In 2013, my team had the opportunity to design an entire room at the Saatchi Gallery, Sloane Square. The brief was to design a visual space that featured our projects in a visually interesting manner. Our ‘exhibition’ should be able to work well in the current surroundings and not obstruct current exhibitons.
 

 

To provide an insight into the common design considerations that every designer faces, we constructed a hop-scotch style ‘brief’ on the wooden flooring that weaved around the fixed obstacles in the gallery (including sofas, a coffee stand and the fixed exhibitions). The icons acted as a pathway that physically lead to examples of design outcomes depending on the responses chosen. They were produced by a surface graphics design company, Ficklestix.
