S(H)ELL

S(h)ell extents my work theme to polar emotions. In particular, I attempt to create an object, which has dual characteristics of both protection and insecurity. S(h)ell is an abstract visualization of a fortress, which keeps its security by containing precariousness sealed inside, confined. Ironically, protection is meaningless without insecurity, vice versa.

S(h)ell attempts to show that an opposite feeling may be easily aroused from a same object. A combination of two polar characteristics, however, does not have to lead to an irony or a contrast, but rather a new image of an entity that is dynamic, thus illusionary. Underlying irony and illusiveness of S(h)ell is introduced by constructing its image in repeating patterns with plastic cable ties.
