Fashion Angels is a toy company on a mission to inspire creativity in tween girls, and was in dire need of an ecommerce website that both appealed to their target audience and better organized their product catalog. Layer One Media was up for that challenge.
Challenge #1 was treating all of the company's brands the same… but different. The new design Layer One fashioned creates distinction between the brands under the Fashion Angels umbrella while still maintaining a cohesive web experience by maintaining particular visual elements throughout the site.
Product organization was key for FashionAngels.com. On the old site, finding products was half the battle. Now products are easy to navigate, and viewable by brand, category and interest. That's right: this website now puts its toys away where they belong.
A unique challenge for this client in particular was complying with Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) regulations. The new site is mindful of these stipulations, requiring a parent or guardian's permission before allowing a child to create an account.
Giving the site a robust, easy-to-use ecommerce system was a priority, so Layer One seamlessly integrated third-party shopping cart software. Now, not only is shopping on FashionAngels.com a breeze for customers, but so is updating available products for Fashion Angel staff. In addition, a wishlist feature integrated with the shopping cart takes the pain out of gift shopping for a picky tween.
This site is about much more than just shopping, though. Playful design injects a fun, lively mood into to the website, while games and a bracelet builder app encourage girls to connect with the brand. To boot, interactive Flash on the homepage both highlights four of their top brands and practically screams "Play with me!" Thanks to Layer One, the new FashionAngels.com is just as fun as the company's products.
