Cibelina is a font based on the typography of the ceramic plaques made by the recently deceased ceramist Alfredo Ruiz de Luna for naming the streets in Madrid. The source of this font dates from the seventeenth century.

One of the peculiarities of this font is the flexibility of his soul, hardly reproducible being typed. The ideal use is freely.
The arrangement of the characters can invade the space of the previous character. It also has a very characteristic S type, long and diagonal that gives to Cibelina a special personality hard to find out of Spain. Taking this font from the seventeenth-century context and using it in the XXI century seems particularly contemporary.

Currently I am finishing this typography. It’s proving hard work because the fonts will interact automatically with each other and I must define all pairs of glyphs.

I called this font Cibelina because Cybele, a Roman goddess who is closely related to Madrid, represented in a famous fountain in town.

Cibelina es una tipografía basada en las rotulaciones de los azulejos realizados por el ceramista recientemente fallecido Alfredo Ruiz de Luna que dan nombre a las calles del centro de Madrid. La fuente data del siglo XVII.
Una de las peculiaridades de este tipo de letra es la flexibilidad de su alma. La disposición de los glifos puede invadir el espacio del carácter anterior. También tiene un glifo de la letra S muy característico, largo y diagonal que da a Cibelina una personalidad especial difícil de encontrar fuera de España.

Actualmente estoy terminando esta tipografía. Es un trabajo duro porque las fuentes interactúan automáticamente entre sí y hay que definir todos los pares de glifos.

Llamé a esta fuente Cibelina por Cibeles, la diosa romana estrechamente relacionada con Madrid, por su representación en la famosa fuente del centro de la capital.
