Second Semester Drawing Final Series- Imperfections

Final for my second semester drawing class. We were allowed to do a series with the medium of our choice. I chose to paint 'imperfections' or what our society views as imperfect or a flaw. I chose this topic because it is hard for me personally to think of these human features as flaws. Nearing the end of my freshman year at RISD, I was discovering how much I had changed as a person so far. I believe that human 'flaws' and 'imperfections' are what make us unique and who we are. We were not made to be carbon-copies or seen as images of perfection. Realizing this and embracing it creates a healthier thinking and mindset, as well as a more accepting and open outlook on most things cosmetic and physical. I wanted this series to show that I don't view these images to be flaws at all, but that society does and creates a market over our insecurities that is detrimental to our mental health.
