MMc401.3 Typography

This week i have researched into different forms of typography, grid layouts, font styles and colour palettes.
I have been asked 2 create 4 different typography designs influenced by any chosen Idiom.

Abstract

The first one below 'Another Dimension', was my first ever attempt at typography where i experimented with grid layout, layering and rotation. i wanted to portray a sense of mystery that reflects the feeling of a 'black hole'. I used a black backdrop so the brights colours contrast and create quite an abstract design. The text i used are lyrics from '11th Dimension - Julian Casablancas'.
Typefaces

My second design i decided on a simple colour scheme and instead experimented with vector lines to create my own 'Typeface'. Again i used a grid layout to help with allignment but found it particularly tricky to preserve the letter dimensions (height and width).

Pen tool

This time around I researched into different ways i could be artistic with the pen tool in Illustrator. I created a dripping paint style effect to the main text and combined shapes and brushes for the zip-teeth.

Brushes

With this image i strayed from Illustrator and instead used Photoshop. I browsed and downloaded a few free brushes and decided to use a tea-stain style effect to overlap the text and background. Will be looking forward to playing and experimenting with photoshop in the future.
