CONT'D Exhibition Proposal

CONT'D Exhibition Proposal

I proposed an exhibition on an abandoned NYC subway platform. The exhibition is an immersive and comprehensive experience incorporating the abandoned platform's setting, its aesthetic state, and inaccessibility as a critical component of the overall exhibit. The exhibit's setting is highly juxtaposed against the installation pieces, creating a rich, thought-provoking, and dynamic experience for the user.

The exhibition is an exposé of New York City's present intangible state- loaded with instant gratification, limitless accessibility, split-second turnarounds and astronomical wealth, largely due to the technology of today- contrasted against the backdrop of the city's current undeniable physical  and tangible 'IRL' conditions,

The beautiful, decaying, textured, historically–laden station would be filled with temporary digital displays, including projections onto the walls and ceiling. These displays; digital, temporary, electronic and intangible, contrast against the character and appearance of the station. A luxury car would be placed on the platform to represent wealth and accessibility. This exhibition provokes viewers'  into questioning the relationships between time (the past vs. the present), accessibility, and technology.

The exhibit would feature digital artwork and technological presentation realized through a call for submissions. The digital pieces displayed would incorporate a mix of fine art pieces, and emerging commercial and utilitarian products.
