In the midst of the Holocaust, my Great-Grandfather managed to escape the concentration camp Buchenwald. His tale, like many others, reflects the tragedy of European Jewry. As my ancestors left genocide behind them, they also left tradition, history, family, and a sense of connection to God long since buried under the rubble of ruined shetls and broken bodies.
