Scherer recently completed a self-portrait in thread on layered fabric. Cutting freely into the fabric and omitting preliminary studies on paper, she used a full-length mirror from which to draw directly with scissors and machine. In full-scale, she shows herself from the hip up at her cutting table. Her portrait has been sold.
 
Scherer develops concepts for public art and creates site-specific work based on collaboration and a maquette. For commissioned portraits, she engages her models through sittings or works with existing visual materials. Contact: Deidre@dscherer.com
