In Curious the author argues that true curiosity is becoming increasingly difficult to harness in our wired world. The idea was to find some iconic object that would be eye catching but that would also illustrate curiosity without showing anything modern or "Wried". The thought of the curiosity and simplicity of an owl and the striking visual nature of the spotted barn owl was a unique image to use for the subject.
