Colourful Universe/Collision

Now that I have returned to University I decided to rent out a Canon 5D Mark III and a 100mm macro lens, in order for me to revisit a previous project where I photographed ferrofluid and ink. The university rent store allows me to access equipment which I cannot yet afford, enabling me to shoot quality images and also follow my desire to explore macro photography.

I decided to call this project 'Colourful Universe' because I was fascinated by the different textures and shapes created by the ink as it mixed on the outside and seperated from the ferrofluid in the middle, almost creating surreal, outer space-like imagery.

I've always enjoyed creating photo manipulations, especially when focusing on a subject which interests me, which is exactly what I created here with this piece titled 'COLLISION'. Here I used photographs from my ferrofluid shoot and combined them to create a sci-fi scene, portraying the tiny balls of magnetic liquid and ink as huge comet/planet structures about to collide together.
