I finally figured out how Mat got his flat face💥
Had good fun making Mat out of clay - inspired by using Substance 3D Modeler. I made a tiling clay material in Painter using some of the included fingerprint grunges. Whenever Mat or the scene animates the UV's are randomly offset each frame in UE5 to give it a handmade/stopmotion look.

Rendered in Unreal Engine 5.1 using path tracer as there are a lot of subsurface materials and small scale assets. Models were mostly from the 3D Asset store - voxelized and run through TyFlow in 3DsMax to give it that blobby clay look.
As the street model moves it get cut at either end with lumpy clay attached. Alembic caches were then played on sequencer tracks in Unreal. Mat was modeled and rigged in 3DsMax.
