Book cover illustration for
'Whose Samosa is it Anyway?', written by Sonal Ved
Published by Penguin Viking, an imprint of Penguin Random House India
Client: Penguin Random House India | 2021
This book is written by Sonal Ved, and she takes us ‘on a journey of taste through various timelines across the Indian subcontinent’.
The brief was to capture the diversity of food and the essence of the book, which dives in to different geographical, historical and cultural areas. The illustration layers a delicious spread of dishes and ingredients- dals, juices, achaars, sweets and more, with people and geography, touching on themes of history, change of landscapes and migration.
This cover was art directed by Akangksha Sarmah
“Priyanka has always been a delight to work with. She as an illustrator makes you enjoy the process with her approach, talent, and kindness. And candidly speaking, one of the sweetest illustrators I’ve worked with so far. I’ve art-directed two book projects with her, and with great professionalism and creativity she has delivered such gorgeous pieces of art that has been widely appreciated by our Penguin readers. I look forward to more such projects with her! Cheers!”
