The title refers to a style of portrait favoured by some Dutch masters. It wasn't supposed to represent a specific person, rather a type. I use the word here because I was trying to paint 'peacockness' rather than a specific bird, and not because I would dream of comparing myself to the likes of Rembrandt or Van Dyck... I'm way bettter than those losers!
