2024 Monaco Grand Prix
I started with a colour palette that I wanted to incorporate in the project, and sketched up a few ideas and scoured my own photographs and the internet for assets to work with.
It began with removing the Formula E car from the original image that I took, and replacing it with the head-on shot of the Ferrari SF-24.
I then added shadows beneath the car to help it feel a part of the original image, making sure to continue the direction of light across the whole image (the natural light is coming from the top left, so longer shadows should fall out toward the right).
I also added in the helmet of a driver sat in the drivers seat. I then added motion blur around the car to give a sense of movement and speed, making sure the direction of the blur matched the direction of each tyre, and created leading lines toward the centre of the image.
Finally it was time for some colour correction on the original image before applying a gradient map and manually painting the pattern and patches over the top to create the pop of colour I envisioned from the start using the colour palette.
