Research

Fascinated by the fluidity and the art of movement as she learned classical ballet when she
was younger. Inspired by forms of nature, diving into fine details about how they look, behave and their unique processes. Aims to combine nature and technology to develop her own materials for
more sustainable collections.

The Problem

People are intrigued by the rising trend of Avant-Garde designs in the fashion industry today; and especially so when combined with modern technology. However, many people are not familiar with the inspiration and the process that comes with each of the unique designs.

Storyline

Iris Van Herpen’s Rise in Fashion by combining science and technology with traditional haute couture to create innovative designs that embrace individuality. Drawing inspiration from the many forms of nature and the art of movement of a body.

Touchpoint #1
[Phantom Syntopia Immersive Experience]

Experience the ethereal beauty of the car’s interior, inspired by nature and fluidity of water. The stars on the walls help to illuminate movement and help to resemble the night sky, bringing a sense of tranquility and calmness to the visitors. Visitors can use their sense of touch on the various textures on the walls.

Touchpoint #2
[Van Herpen’s Process through VR]
Visitors are able to better understand the detailed processes of creating haute couture dresses by exploring Van Herpen’s studio through Virtual Reality, watching the pieces come to life from sketches and mock-ups to 3D printing and runway preparation in a 360 degree view.
