ADV93FINAL: Art Direction, Photography: ACCEPTANCE

Art Direction, Photography: ACCEPTANCE
For this project I had to use a series of 6 photos to tell a visual story. By editing the chosen photos and adding captions, I think I was able to communicate my story effectively.
My goal was to show the journey of learning to accept your insecurities and love yourself, flaws and all. I aimed to show a woman looking in the mirror, noticing her insecurities, and eventually accepting her flaws and finding that true beauty isn’t just physical. To effectively tell this story, I wanted to have all black and white photos, but with a vignette/ darkness surrounding certain photos to reflect negative thoughts of insecurity; as well as having lighter and clearer photos reflecting the positive thoughts. I was a little worried I would have trouble finding the right photos to tell the story, but I ended up finding the perfect model that reflected the exact kind of photos I was looking for. I wanted to have a person that had similar insecurities to my own, and was pleasantly surprised when I found her photos.

These were my photo ideas:
Here are the pictures from Adobe Stock:

Here are the photos after being edited in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop:
After the editing process, I took the photos into Adobe Indesign and created my magazine-style story. I titled it ACCEPTANCE to reflect the story and added some captions I thought went well.
Overall I enjoyed this project and got to use a new tool (Lightroom). Please check out the project below!
