In response to the competition brief from Penguin Book Publishers I created a book cover for the children’s novel “City of Stolen Magic” by Nazneen Ahmed Pathak. I really wanted to illustrate the more rebellious and adventurous themes that follow the strong female heroine and her brave journey from India to London in a race to save her mother. Reflective of these themes I focused on the colours and objects that represented her identity and relationships that ultimately drove the book, leading me to the following designs.
