The Devil - Tarot Card

The Devil

For this project I designed a Tarot card using symbols and illustrations that convey the meaning of the original tarot card. Principles of design such as balance, contrast, repetition are present in this composition as well as elements such as line, color and shape. The woman looking at herself in the compact mirror and applying lipstick represents the devil. She has devil horns and a tail to show this. The colors I chose were red, black, wine, orange, and yellow for the most part to symbolize strong feelings like desire, passion and vanity. Her black dress with flames on it also suggests temptation and desire. Together, these symbols invite people to think about temptation and what happens when we give in to our desires.  This card speaks to the darker side of ourselves and the negative forces that hold us back. Just like the Devil card in tarot, it suggests that we might be trapped in bad habits or unhealthy relationships, choosing pleasure over happiness. It's a reminder that sometimes, we make choices that harm us in the long run.
