Hudsonville Bands Homepage

This is a prototype of the homepage of the Hudsonville Bands website. The first step of the process was to evaluate what the purpose of the website and the homepage was, that being to promote the students in the program, inform parents of schedules and volunteering opportunities, and encourage new students to join the program. From there I looked at the current homepage and assessed what was working well and what content could use possible changes. A big part of this step was thinking about what information needs to be easy to access for the website's audience. To appeal to the band parents, the website also needs to appear very clean and professional as well.
One of the first steps to redesigning the Hudsonville Bands website was to analyze the audience of the site. It was crucial to understand who would be visiting the site and what their needs are so the redesign could meet their purposes. From the analysis, I came up with these three user personas of people who could visit the site and what they might use it for to use while designing.
Another step of the website design process was making a style tile that served to show the client an idea of what the website would look like visually. This includes typefaces, color schemes, possible imagery, and icons. The colors of the website are reminiscent of the school's colors and the website features circular images of the students in the band program to create an inviting and friendly atmosphere that is centered around the passion and joy of the high school and middle school students.
Another important step to the redesign was to make a mobile version of the website so users can easily view information on their phones as well as desktop.
